VIKING COMPASS
Long before the compass was invented the Vikings sailed to Iceland, Greenland and Russia with their ships. Seafarers used so-called ‘sunstones’, transparent calcite stones, as navigation instruments. The ‘Viking Compass’ amulet consists of the Icelandic symbol ‘VegvÃsir’ which is located in the centre with the runic alphabet around it. In former times it was believed that the magical staves of the VegvÃsir and the runes can help the bearer to have a safe journey and find his way, even under rough conditions.
