In Roman mythology Diana is the virgin goddess of the moon. She is considered as the guardian of women and maids. However, to some extent she shows characteristics of a deity of death as well. During mediaeval times the interpretation of her character changed: She was regarded to be the goddess of wishes or the female part of the devil. Diana represents independence, strength and the relatedness to nature and wildlife.
